We value and will work to help save our Democracy and our Constitutional Republic by joining Maine Citizens Action for Democracy (MECAD), because:

• We need bold action to preserve our voting rights. Maine citizens voted overwhelmingly in 2025 to protect absentee voting and stave off measures that make voting more difficult. We want to control our own elections, and we will support all lawful steps to resist the presence of ICE interfering in Maine elections.

• We want to protect our Constitutional rights and the due process of law. The Bill of Rights is foundational to our democracy and our way of life.

• We detest the arresting and mistreatment of law-abiding immigrants while transferring them to DEPORABLE detention centers, often out of state. All with no access to legal help. All done with our tax dollars.

• We object to the dishonest use of the phrase “Waste, Fraud and Abuse” to eliminate vital government services to our veterans and those in need of health care.

• We don’t want undeclared wars, and we don’t need a 50 percent increase in the defense budget.

• We urge Congress to STAND UP and exercise its mandated powers to declare war, to enact any tariffs, to make all appropriations and enforce the faithful execution of those congressional measures.

• We insist our members of Congress relentlessly pursue bipartisan solutions to the affordability crisis, as if the economic well-being of their constituents was a priority.

• We are sickened by the glaring corruption of those at the top of our government, which undermines trust and confidence.

• We support the authority of the US Congress and want to hold our elected leaders accountable for following the Constitution at every step.
