Sign on: Tell Susan Collins to Save Our Democracy

Dear Senator Collins,

You have a long history of fighting for Maine values, benefiting thousands of citizens, businesses, and educational institutions over many years. You have indicated your concern for abuses of power.

But, as never before, we need bold action to preserve our voting rights and the due process of law – rights that are foundational to our democracy. The administration’s actions to enact Project 2025 threaten those rights. Maine citizens want to control our own elections. We don’t want ICE at the polls. We oppose the actions of masked paramilitary forces to detain citizens of the United States and lawful immigrants without due process. We oppose the administration’s current and planned efforts to detain and hold people in inhumane conditions in warehouses without an opportunity for a hearing. We want to limit the use of the military. We support the equal power of Congress to lead the government.

 You have an opportunity to build a coalition of Republicans, Independents, and Democratsto reclaim Congress’s lawful governing responsibilities and reaffirm Congress’s power of the purse. We need your leadership to halt the administration’s unconstitutional excesses.

 Mainers are known to put country over party affiliation. We value people who stand up to bullies. Maine voters are watching to see if you provide the leadership we need in Washington to reclaim our democracy.
